The Grameen Bank, Bishoikhali branch under Moharajpur union porishod in Jhenaidah sadar upazila has been looted by some unidentified miscreants in broad day light by brandishing arms at about 4:30 PM on Tuesday. At that time, at least 8,150 taka, 5 mobile sets and one gold chain was looted.Graameen Bank centre manager Sharmin Sultana said some 7/8 miscreants wearing masks and by showing arms came to the bank neutralised all the staff members including women. A that time they snatched the key of the almira and after opening it, looted 8,150 taka, when they were returning, they snatched all the mobile sets and gold chain from a woman staff member.
The branch staff had transferred a big amount of money to the main branch of Jhenaidah few minutes ago, she added. Jhenaidah Grameen Bank manager Kamrul Islam confirmed the news and said, the miscreants came to the bank by riding 3 motorcycles and returned using those.
Jhenaidah sadar thana OC Iqbal Bahar Chowdhury said no case was filed till the filing of this report and none was arrested in this connection.
