Job seeking BCL-men lock up RU VC’s residence

Rajshahi, Jan 11 – The former and present activists of Bangladesh Chatra League in Rajshahi University who are seeking jobs in the campus locked up the main entrance of vice-chancellor professor M Abdus Sobhan’s Residence demanding jobs today. The protesters started sit-in-strike at around 9.00 pm on Monday.
According to campus source, the protesters started assembling in front of VC’s house as a disabled person got a job in the registrar office of the university on the day. Later, a group of 6 of them including university RU BCL president Golam Kibriya met VC. Then they locked up VC’s house as vice-chancellor couldn’t assure them of jobs.
One of the protesters said, we have been getting assurance since 2017 but haven’t yet got any job. But VC appointed his son-in-law. When we talk about our jobs he starts showing excuses.
VC Professor M Abdus Sobhan said we got a letter from the prime minister office, that’s why a disabled boy got a job. I am now unable to appoint any other person as the education ministry barred all sort of appointment in the Rajshahi University campus. – RU Correspondent
