Savar (Dhaka) 7 Feb – The 42nd Annual Sports Competition of Jahangirnagar University (JU) was held at the university’s central playground on Tuesday.Vice chancellor of the university Prof Dr. Farzana Islam, as the chief guest, inaugurated the competitions at about 10:30am while pro-VCs Prof Dr. Abul Hossain and Prof Dr. Amir Hussain and Treasurer Prof Sheikh Monzurul Huq were present as the special guests.
In the competitions, AFM Kamaluddin Hall and Mowlana Bhashani Hall, among the male dorms, emerged as the champions and runners-up respectively while Sheikh Hasina Hall and Pritilata Hall among the female dorms.
Among male competitors, Ismail Gazi of Shahid Salam Barkat Hall and Mamun Sarkaer of AFM Kamal Uddin Hall jointly became champions securing 18 points each while GM Hasan of AFM Kamal Uddin Hall and Ariful Islam Joy of Shahid Salam Barkat Hall jointly became runners-up securing 16 points each.
Saima Akter of Pritilata Hall with 18 points and Sharmin Akter Shupta of Nawab Foyjunnesa Hall and Moriom Akter Irin with 16 points became runners-up.
In the competition, Zakaria Hossen emerged as the fastest man while Sayma Akter as the fastest woman.
Later, Vice Chancellor gave away the awards to the winners. – JU Correspondent
