JU Theatre to observe 36-year anniversary today

Jahangirnagar Theatre, the oldest cultural organization of Jahangirnagar University (JU), has arranged 11-day long drama festival marking its 36-year anniversary.‘Dristi Jurey Swapno Shikhor, Jugantorer Gaan’- securing this slogan the festival will begin at 5pm on tomorrow (Saturday) at the Selim Al Deen Mukta Manch on the campus.
Dr Kamruzzaman Monir, associate professor of the Zoology department and Advisor of the organization disclosed this at a press conference at the JU Journalists’ Association (JUJA) at 3.30pm on Thursday.
JU Vice Chancellor Prof Farzana Islam will inaugurate the programme as the chief guest. Besides, she will also lay the foundation stone of a sculpture of the prominent drama personality Selim Al Deen.
A total of 11 dramas will be staged during the festival.
Prominent drama personality Ali Zaker and academician Rasheda K Choudhary and the first female secretary of Jahangirnagar Theatre Kamrunnahar Bithi will be honored in the concluding session of the festival.
Besides, Ex General Secretary of Jahangirnagar Theatre and Australia expatriates Rajnandi will be awarded first ‘Alok Kumar Roy’ award.
Among others, JU Theatre GS Mehedi Hasan Munna and Organizing Secretary Anisur Rahman Shishir presented at the Press conference.
