Dhaka, Oct 6 – The Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested AL youth associate, Jubo League’s Dhaka South unit President Ismail Hossain Samrat and his associate Arman in Comilla on early Sunday.
Lt Col Sarwar Bin Kashem, director, legal and media wing of Rab, said they arrested the duo from Chauddagram Upazila around 5 am “on a specific allegation”.A local representative, seeking anonymity, said Samrat had taken shelter in the house of transport businessman Monir Hossain at Kunja Sreepur village in Alkara union.
On September 24, the government imposed a travel ban on Samrat, after some irregularities were noticed by law enforcers. Since then it was unclear whether Samrat was in custody or at large.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal recently said the Jubo League leader would be arrested if police found any proof against him. – UNB
