Khulna celebrates Tagore’s 158th birthday


People of Khulna today joined th nation to celebrate the 158th birth anniversary of Biswa Kobi Rabindranath Tagore with much enthusiasm.
On the occasion Khulna district administration arranged a discussion, Rabindra Fair and Rabindra poem recitation program in the premises of Dakkhindhi Rabindra Museum, Father-in-laws house of Tagore, at Phultala upazila here.
Khulna Deputy Commissioner Md. Helal Hossain presided over the function while Additional Divisional Commissioner Nischinda Kumar Poddar was present as the chief guest.
Treasurer of Khulna University (KU) Sadhan Ranjan Ghosh, Police Super S M Shafiullah, Additional Deputy Commissioners Iqbal Hossain and Ziaur Rahman, Fultala UNO Begum Parveen Sultana, Upazila chairman Sheikh Akram Hossain, Press Club President S M Mustafizur Rahman, addressed, the function, among others.
Remembering the works of the Nobel laureate poet, the speakers said Tagore enriched Bengali literature, establishing its glory in the world arena. He always nourished deep sense of love for humanity and feelings for the nature.
Rabindranath encouraged the backward section of the society for emancipation, truth and beauty. Rabindranath reshaped Bengali literature, music, art an culture with contextual modernism during his lifetime.
Meanwhile, Rupsha upazila administration celebrated the day at Phitabhog village, ancestral house of Tagore, amid much enthusiasm and due grandeur, marking the 158th birth anniversary of Tagore, reports BSS from Khulna.
