Dhaka, July 14 (UNB) — Initiatives will be taken to toughen the existing law on torture and rape as per the proposal of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Begum Fazilatunnesa said on Sunday.
She came up with the announcement while joining the ministry around noon.
She said social and cultural activists and the people have to be united to create awareness to prevent rape and violence against women.
The incumbent government is women friendly, she said, adding that it has taken many initiatives for women’s development and empowerment.
