Lioness Nova in Ctg zoo weds with Badsha

The lioness Nova of Chittagong which remained single for long broken her aloneness today after wed locked with lion “ Badsha” of Rangpur in Chittagong zoo amidst huge merriment and festivity.

The outgoing Deputy Commissioner (DC), Chittagong Mezba Uddin formally inaugurated the wedding programme of the two marital partners of king of the beast at 11 am in Chittagong zoo.

The DC as per custom of the human society usually cut the wedding cake and meat in the cage and released balloons to mark the occasion.

The entire Chittagong zoo including main gate, walkways and wildlife cages was decorated with festoons and colourful balloons as the viewers and visitors cannot but deem to be a real wedding party.

Additional DC (ADC) Dr, Anupom Sahah , additional district magistrate Mamunur Rashid , ADC (education) Habibur Rahman, poet Obhik Osman , Selina Sheli, member secretary of the Zoo Ruhul Amin, Deputy curator Chowdhury Manzur Nurshed, journalists and school students witnessed the atypical and attractive function .

With the arrival of lion from Rangpur the visitors and wildlife lovers now can watch the roar and royal life of male partner of lioness Nova in Chittagong zoo. Zoo sources said the cubs Nova and Barsha were born in Chittagong on June 16, 2005 but their parents Raj and Laxmi died a few days after their birth.

Subsequently, Nova and Barsha two sibling remained virgin and has been passing lonesomeness as no male lion was brought in the zoo.

Chittagong zoo authority after many efforts finally brought Badsha from Rangpur Zoo in exchange of sending Barsha to Rangpur last month .

Barsha in the same way will be partner of Raja in Rangpur zoo.
