Theatre troupe Loko Natyadal will organise a four-day theatre festival at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy marking its 36th founding anniversary. The festival will feature the troupe’s eight plays including Abak Jolpan, Kanjush, Majh Raater Manushera, Mujib Mane Mukti, Dakghar, Rathjatra, Sonai Madhob and Lilaboty Akhyan, said Liaquat Ali Lucky, founder of the troupe, at a press conference held at the seminar room of the academy on July 3.
The festival began yesterday with staging of two plays Abak Jalpan and Kanjush at National Theatre Hall from 7:00 pm, the troupe was staged the play Majhrater Manushera at the same venue on July 5. On Friday three plays-Mujib Manei Mukti, Daakghar and Rathjatra will be staged from 4pm at National Theatre Hall.
The festival on its concluding day will feature a seminar titled ‘Loko Natyadal-er Karmomukhor Tin Jug’ at the academy’s seminar room in the morning, while Loko Natyadal would stage its play Lilaboty Akhyan at the Experimental Theatre Hall of the academy in the evening.
Loko Natyadal, which was founded on July 6, 1981, is credited with creating 60 productions including 52 theatre plays, seven street plays and one musical play. The troupe has performed at theatre festivals in different countries including Japan, USA, UK, South Korea, India, Russia and Turkey.
Liaquat Ali Lucky along with members of Loko Natyadal including Masud Sumon, Sujan Mahbub and Krishti Hefaz were present at the press conference.
‘Loko Natyadal is currently working on four productions-Osomapto Atmojiboni Osomapto Swadhinata, Rajkumari Sundoribala, Jagodish and Amra Tinjon’ said Lucky, who also informed that Osomapto Atmojiboni Osomapto Swadhinata is based on the life and contributions of the founding president of the country Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Rajkumari Sundoribala depicts the history of Chuknagar massacre committed by the Pakistani invading army in 1971.
