Dhaka, Dec 15 – Bangladesh recorded yesterday its lowest temperature of this winter so far after the mercury fell to 8 degrees Celsius at Tetulia Upazila in Panchagarh at 6 am.
Tetulia Upazila is located at the foot of Himalayas. The severity of winter is likely to increase further in the northernmost of district-Panchagarh of the country within one more month.
Though the temperature is a bit higher during the daytime, from night onwards it starts falling till morning.
According to the Met Office, the temperature will be much lower from Sunday to Wednesday evening (January 15). Over the last 7 days, the lowest average temperature has been recorded at 10.6 degrees Celsius while the highest average was at 26 °C.
Tetulia met office official Rahidul Islam said that the lowest temperature was recorded at 8.9°C on yesterday morning but at noon at 23.5°C.”
According to the weather forecast, the sub-continental high pressure of wind rests in the Himalayan foothills of West Bengal and adjoining areas. The usual low-pressure is in the South Bay. The weather can temporarily remain dry throughout Bangladesh, with partly cloudy over the country.
Light rain and thunderstorms are likely in both places of Rajshahi and Rangpur Division. The temperature of the night may remain virtually unchanged throughout the country and day temperatures may increase slightly, the forecast said. – Staff Reporter
