Mahmudullah likely to miss India clash

Dhaka – Bangladesh star all-rounder Mahmudullah Riayd is likely to miss their vital match of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup against two times champions India at Edgbastom on Tuesday.
“Mahmudullah will not play tomorrow’s game (against India) given his today’s condition,” BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu, who is in England with the team, said.
“We have nothing to do with the injury. What I can say right now is that he has no chance to play against India,” he told the media at Edgbaston.
The right-handed all-rounder suffered a blow on his right calf muscle during the match against Afghanistan. The batsman was seen to bat with compressed tape on his muscle in that match.
Minhajul also said it is yet to be decided who will replace Mahmudullah in the playing eleven.
“We’re yet to finalise who will replace Mahmudullah. Since he had been playing as a batsman, we’ll go for a batsman as his replacement,” the chief selector added.
Along with the muscle injury, Mahmudullah has been suffering from a shoulder injury what he sustained months ago. Due to that problem, Mahmudullah had not been bowling in the World Cup.
The right-handed all-rounder batted in five innings in the World Cup and amassed 190 runs with the best innings of 69 against Australia at Nottingham.UNB
