Mashrafe urges youths to stay home for safety

Dhaka  – Immediate past captain of Bangladesh ODI team Mashrafe bin Mortaza, MP, on Monday urged country’s young generation to stay home to be safe amid the outbreak of deadly coronavirus.

He made the call in a Facebook post made on Monday. “Ekhon Joubon Jar, Bashai Thakar Tar Sreshtho Somoy Tar (Now is the best time for the young men to stay at their homes,” he wrote in the post.

Mashrafe picked the theme from a famous poem written by Helal Hafiz. The line of the poem is “Ekhon joubon jar, michile jawar sreshtho somoy tar. Ekhon joubon jar, juddhe jawar sreshtho somoy tar (Now is the best time for young men to go to procession. Now is the best time for young men to go to war).”

Earlier, Bangladeshi world famed all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, now in self-isolation in the USA, Bangladesh’ s newly-appointed ODI captain Tamim Iqbal and former national captain Mushfiqur Rahim also alerted people about the coronavirus threat.

With the post, Mashrafe first tried to keep his fans in Bangladesh alert about the situation of the world via his Facebook profile.
