Mawa-Kawrakandi ferry link resumes after ten hours

Ferry services on the Mawa-Kawrakandi route resumed at 8am on Saturday morning after remaining suspended for around ten hours due to thick fog.
The Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) authorities said the ferry service on the Mawa-Kewrakandi route remained stranded from 11pm last night due to poor visibility caused by dense fog.
Ferries with trucks and passenger buses were forced to remain stuck for about 10 hours in the middle of the Padma river due to the inclement weather.
Manager of BIWTC Serajul Haque said the ferry service was restored with the disappearance of fog around 8am on Saturday.
He further said about 600 vehicles were stranded on both sides of the ferry ghat creating a huge traffic gridlock. -BSS, Munshiganj
