Mawa-Kewrakandi ferry service resumes after 4 hrs

The ferry service on Mawa-Kewrakandi route resumed on Tuesday morning after four hours of disruption due to dense fog.
The ferry service on the important route remained suspended since 5:30am for poor visibility caused by thick fog.Seven ferries with 1,000 passengers got stuck in the midstream of the Padma River, causing immense sufferings to the travellers. Besides, 400 vehicles got stranded on both sides of the river.Sirajul Haque, manager of Mawa Ghat, said two RO-RO ferries –Birsreshtha Ruhul Amin and Shah Makhdum — and five other ferries — Kalmilata, Ramsree, Raniganj, Ranikhet and Roypura – had to make halt in the middle of the river due to the thick fog.The ferry service on the route resumed around 9:30am as the visibility improved with the disappearing fog. –UNB, Musshiganj
