MC College Gangrape: Rapists even took away their car

Sylhet, Sept 28 – The miscreants who gang-raped a woman after tying up her husband in a dormitory of Sylhet MC College, also snatched away the victim’s car and demanded Tk 50,000 ransom for it.

Before violating the wife they also snatched away her gold ornaments and her husband’s wallet, according to the case statement.
Victim’s husband filed the case with Shah Paran Police Station on Saturday over the matter.
The statement said the victim and her husband were returning home after visiting the shrine of Hazrat Shah Paran in a private car at around 7:45 pm on Friday.
The husband parked the car to buy cigarettes from a roadside shop, where some Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) men insulted the victim with unsavoury comments.
The BCL men were Tarequl Islam, 28, Md Mahbubur Rahman, 25, Arjun Laskar, 25, Rabiul Islam, 25, Mahfizur Rahman, 25 and 3 others.
They started physically assaulting the husband when he protested, overpowering the couple and forcing them back into the car before driving it to the MC College premises.
They were taken to the south corner of a new building of block 7 in the dormitory where they raped the girl in the car after tying up her husband.
After violating the girl they snatched the car and demanded Tk 50,000 ransom.
The victims identified six of the miscreants Saifur Rahman, Tarequl Islam, 28, Md Mahbubur Rahman, 25, Arjun Laskar, 25, Rabiul Islam, 25, Mahfizur Rahman, 25
Later, police recovered the car from the spot.
The victim has been admitted to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital.
A total of six people have been arrested over the matter so far, said Officer-in-Charge of Shah Paran Police Station Abdul Kaiyum.
Police is operating drives to catch Rabiul Islam and Mahfizur Rahman as they have been on the run, OC said.
Two accused, including the prime suspect of the gang-rape case Saifur Rahman and Arjun Lashkar, were placed on five-day remand on Monday.
Saifur, son of Tauhid of Balaganj Upazila, was arrested from Noarai Ghat in Chhatak Upazila of Sunamganj and Arjun was arrested from Mantala bordering area in Madhabpur Upazila of Habiganj.
