Mini Ranji: BCB XI leading by 56 runs against KSCA Secretary XI

Dhaka – Touring Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) XI took a 56-run lead against Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) Secretary XI on the first day of the 3rd four-day match of the ongoing Dr (Capt) K Thimmappaiah Memorial Cricket Tournament, also known as Mini Ranji Trophy, on Monday at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.In reply to KSCA Secretary XI’s meagre total of 79 runs in the first innings, the BCB XI scored 135 for 3 in 44 overs in the first innings at the end of the first day, featuring a half century by opener Shadman Islam (59 runs off 93 balls).

Jahurul Islam and Najmul Hossain Shanto remained unbeaten on 28 and 27 runs respectively for the BCB XI when the bails were drawn for the first day.

After electing to field first, the BCB XI restricted the KSCA Secretary XI to only 79 runs in 41 overs.

Shohidul Islam grabbed five wickets conceding 20 runs in 16 overs while Ebadot Hossain claimed 2 for 36 and Ariful Haque 3 for 22 for the Bangladeshi side.

Earlier, the BCB XI started their campaign with a draw against Vidarbha Cricket Association in their first four-day match at Alur-2 (Golden Oval) in Bengaluru on July 10-13.

The touring side played to another draw against Dr DY Patil Cricket Academy in their second four-day match of the tournament at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on July 10-13.

On the other hand, KSCA Secretary XI defeated Dr DY Patil CA by 7 wickets in their first match at the Indian Air Force Ground (IAF) on July 10-13 while they suffered an innings and 121-run defeat to Vidarbha CA at the KINI Sports venue on July 16-19.

With two draws, the BCB XI are now in the 3rd position of the four-team Group B securing 4 points from two matches while the KSCA Secretary XI are now at the 2nd slot with 5 points from two matches with one win and one defeat.Vidarbha CA topped the points table with 8 points from two matches.UNB
