Ministry asks police, guardians to see students stay at home

Dhaka, March 18 – Education Ministry has directed the district administrations and superintendents of police to take steps to send the students back home if they are found roaming in the streets to keep them free from the risk of coronavirus infection. The ministry has also called upon the guardians to ensure the staying of the students at home amid this situation.
Education ministry in a press release yesterday said the ministry on March 16 directed to keep close all educational institutions and coaching centres from March 18 to March 31 and requested the guardians to ensure the staying of the students at home.
But it has been noticed that many students and guardians have deemed it as a general holiday and are hanging out at different places. Even many are visiting the Cox’s Bazar sea beach, it said.
The coaching centres were also asked to keep close but the ministry through media reports has come to know that some coaching centres are running its activities resulting in the risk of spreading coronavirus among the students and across the country.
The education ministry has issued letters to the authorities concerned to take necessary steps in this regard.
Amid the spread of the coronavirus, the government has taken various measures to prevent the spread of the virus among masses. All the educational institutions have been kept closed as a measure of it.
The country has now got 14 positive cases including one who died yesterday. – Staff Reporter
