MoU signed to ease company registration process

Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) and Registrar of Joint Stock Companies and Firms (RJSC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Monday. The MoU was signed at a city hotel aiming to facilitate the business registration process through the formation of a DCCI Helpdesk that will be launched on the DCCI premises shortly.

DCCI president M Sabur Khan and registrar (additional secretary) of RJSC Bijon Kumar Baishya signed the MoU on behalf of their respective sides, said a DCCI press release.

The International Finance Corporation (IFC) through Bangladesh Investment Climate Fund (BICF) will provide technical support for the capacity building and operationalisation of the DCCI Helpdesk. This is going to be the firs-ever government approved helpdesk being operated to assist new and old businessmen.

The government of Bangladesh has introduced online business registration at RJSC in early 2009 in an effort to simplify the business registration process. However, clients often face both procedural and technical problems while completing the registration process, and due to understaffing at RJSC they do not receive the necessary support from RJSC staff with the registration.

Under the MoU, the RJSC will allow DCCI full communication with RJSC  internal staff and internal system to complete registration processes.

DCCI directors Rizwan-ur Rahman, M Abu Hurairah, Kh Shahidul Islam, Hossain A Sikder and IFC programme manager Dr Masroor Reaz were also present at the signing ceremony. (Source: UNB)
