Mujib Borsho Special session of parliament begins

Dhaka, Nov 08 – The 10th session of the 11th Parliament, also a special session marking the Mujib Borsho, began at 6:00pm on Sunday with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.

Parliament went into session after a 59-day recess as the last session was prorogued on September 10 last.
The main activities of the special session will start on Monday and continue till Thursday next, said the Speaker at the outset of the session.
President Abdul Hamid will address the Parliament on Monday highlighting the life and works of Father of the Nation Bangbandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman marking the Mujib Borsho (Mujib Year).
On October 21, President Abdul Hamid called the special session of parliament (5th session of the current year) exercising power bestowed upon him by Article 72 (1) of the constitution.
The Mujib Borsha marks the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Earlier, the president had called the special session for March 22, but it was not held in the wake of Covid-19. – UNB
