Mustafa Zaman Abbasi, the master of folk songs, composition and research has been honoured with the honorific title “Bhawaiyar Rajputra”. Channel i hosted the awarding ceremony at their premises in Tejgaon in the capital. Along with Mustafa Zaman Abbasi, noted Bhawaiya singer Syed Golam Ambia and researcher Motahar Sufi also got Bhawaiya Padak.
The programme was aired live by Channel i from 3pm to 5pm. A special edition of the trimonthly publication on Bhawaiya songs was also unveiled. The magazine is regularly brought out by Bhawaiya Angan. Fariudr Reza Sagar, managing director of Channel i will unveil the special edition.
Cultural Minister Asaduzzaman Noor was present as chief guest. Also present to share their thoughts were Bangla Academy director general Shamsuzzaman Khan, Mustafa Zaman Abbasi’s wife Asma Abbasi, Indra Mohan Rajbongshi, Dr Nashid Kamal, Sujit Mustapha, Anisul Haque and more. AKM Mostafizur Rahman founder of Bhawaiya Angan was also present to deliver the welcome speech. A song written and composed by him laid the opening to the event. The song is about Mustafa Zaman Abbasi himself.
