Dhaka – Bangladesh off-cutter sensation Mustafizur Rahman has been included in the ICC World Twenty20 team of the tournament.The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the 12-member team, selected by a six-member panel, on Monday.He was named 12th man of the team. Indian batsman Virat Kohli was made captain and Quinton de Kock of South Africa wicketkeeper.The other members of the team are Jason Roy, Joe Root, Jos Buttler and David Willey of England; Andre Russell and Samuel Badree of West Indies; Shane Watson of Australia; Mitchell Santner of New Zealand and Ashish Nehra of India.
Mustafiz, the 20-year-old cutter miracle from Satkhira, played only three Super-10 stage matches for Bangladesh in the just concluded World T20 making the tournament best bowling figure of 5/22 in the last match against New Zealand at Eden Gardens. He took seven wickets for 65 in 9 overs in the tournament.Mustafiz appeared in any overseas world cricket event for the first time on March 21 against Australia at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore.The cutter master played 13 T20Is to grab 22 wickets with an average of 13.95 runs making his debut on April 24 last year against Pakistan at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Dhaka.Mustafiz stunned the world cricket fraternity with his 5/50 in his first international appearance in one-day cricket against mighty India on June 18, 2015.Meanwhile, the ICC also announced the Women’s World T20 team of the tournament naming Stafanie Taylor of West Indies as the captain.The other players of the 12-member team are Deandra Dottin of West Indies; Suzie Bates, Sophie Devine, Rachel Priest (wicketkeeper) and Leigh Kasperek of New Zealand; Charlotte Edwards and Anya Shrubsole of England; Meg Lanning and Megan Schutt of Australia; Sune Luus of South Africa; and the 12th player Anam Amin of Pakistan.The selection panel that selected the men’s and women’s squads from around 400 cricketers who represented 26 teams consisted of Geoff Allardice (ICC General Manager-Cricket, Chairman), Ian Bishop (former West Indies fast bowler), Nasser Hussain (former England captain), Mel Jones (former Australia women’s batter), Sanjay Manjrekar (former India batsman) and Lisa Sthalekar (former Australia women’s all-rounder).
