Mustafiz off to India to play IPL

Dhaka – Cutter master Mustafizur Rahman left here for India on Tuesday afternoon to play the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) for defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad.He is likely to play the team’s 3rd match against Mumbai Indian on Wednesday at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The match will kick off at 8:30pm Bangladesh time.
Talking to reporters before his departure, he said he wants to do better maintaining the continuity of his last year’s performance. He was adjudged emerging player of the IPL in the last edition.The holders made a good start in the IPL beating Royal Challengers Bangalore by 35 runs in the opening match on April 5 and maintained their winning run outplaying Gujarat Lions by nine wickets in the 2nd match on Sunday without Mustafiz.The 21-year-old left arm fast medium bowler from Satkhira, Mustafiz, popularly known as Fizz, came to limelight in his first appearance in IPL for Sunrisers Hyderabad last year grabbing 17 wickets in 16 matches with an average of 24.76.Meanwhile, world number one all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who directly reached India from Sri Lanka last Friday to join his IPL side Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), is yet to feature in the best eleven of the team in two matches.KKR made a good start in the IPL crushing Gujarat Lions by 10 wickets in the first match on Friday last, but conceded a four-wicket defeat to Mumbai Indians in the 2nd match on Sunday.Bangladesh cricket fans are waiting for Shakib’s inclusion in the team’s 3rd match against Kings X1 Punjab at the team’s home ground –Eden Gardens in Kolkata-on Thursday.agency
