Dhaka – Bangladesh head coach Steve Rhodes said Mustafizur Rahman will return to his best form soon if he gets his pace back.
In his last two ODIs, Mustafizur conceded 93 and 84 runs against New Zealand and West Indies respectively. This performance prompted sceptics to say that the southpaw has lost his magic.
However, Rhodes believes Mustafizur will show his real strength as soon as he gets his pace back.
“I’m not worried at all. He’s one of the finest ODI bowlers,” Rhodes told the reporters on Thursday after the match of the Tigers against Ireland washed out.
“Not too long ago, he was one of the best five bowlers. He bowled with a great pace in the previous game. If he can increase his pace a little bit, you’ll see his best version soon.”
In the last match against West Indies, Mustafizur conceded 84 and took two wickets. He bowled at an economy rate of 8.40, and before that, he gave away 93 runs against New Zealand where he bowled at the economy rate of 9.30.
The southpaw is considered one of the biggest weapons that the Tigers have for their World Cup assault in England and Wales, which is slated to be played from May 30. Bangladesh will play their first game against South Africa on June 2.
Mustafizur started off his ODI career in 2015 against India taking 11 wickets in first two ODIs. That performance set the fortune of Mustafuzr. But due to some setbacks for injuries, he failed to continue to show that glimpses.UNB
