Sherpur – Nakla Upazila emerged district champions in the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman National Gold Cup Under-17 Football Tournaments while Sherpur municipality emerged district champions in the Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa National Gold Cup Under-17 Football Tournaments here on Saturday. Nakla Upazila beat Sherpur municipality by 4-3 goals in tie breaker of the Bangabandhu gold cup final at Shahid Daroga Ali Poura Park Market ground.
In the day’s other match, Sherpur municipality beat Sreebardi Upazila by 1-0 goals in the Bangamata gold cup final at the same venue.Whip Md Atiur Rahman Atik, MP distributed the prizes among the champions and runners-up teams after the day’s final matches.
Deputy Commissioner Anar Koli Mahbub, Deputy Director of LGRD A T M Ziaul Islam, Additional Deputy Commissioner A B M Ehasanul Mamun, General Secretary of District Sports Association (DSA) Hakim Babul, Additional General Secretary of DSA Manik Dutta, District Sports Officer Dhirendra Chandra Sarkar, President of Sherpur Press Club Sharifur Rahman were also present on the occasion.
Five upzilas of Sherpur and Sherpur Municipality are taking part in both the competitions.UNB
