Nasim’s condition deteriorates: Doctor

Dhaka, June 13 – The health condition of ailing Awami League leader and former health minister Mohammad Nasim, who was infected by coronavirus, deteriorated on Friday evening. An emergency meeting of a 12-member medical board was held through a videoconference in this regard. Nasim’s son was present at the meeting.
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Kanak Kanti Barua, chief of the board, confirmed the info about his health.
“His condition is critical, which means it has deteriorated,” he said.
The medical board was formed on Monday.
On Friday, the former minister underwent a successful surgery after his condition worsened following a stroke while undergoing treatment at Bangladesh Specialised Hospital.
A day before that, his health condition improved and he was scheduled to be shifted to a cabin from the ICU.
On June 2, Nasim tested positive for coronavirus.
Nasim has been acting as the convenor for the 14-party ruling alliance built around the heft of Awami League. – UNB
