Nasum displeased with his performance despite superb debut

DHAKA  – Even though his bowling on debut match caught the attention of many, left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed was not pleased with his performance.

According to him, he could have bowled better in the first T20 match against New Zealand, his debut game, in which he claimed 2-30.

Opening the bowling, the young Tiger removed fellow debutant Finn Allen for naught in the first over, which forced Kiwis to be restrained when usually they are used to play attacking cricket right from the start.

But that was not the end for Nasum as he also scalped the crucial wicket of Martin Guptill before he did more damage to Bangladesh. Guptill was out on 27 ball-35.

“I couldn’t bowl that well. I think it could have been better than what I showed in the first match,” Nasum said in a recorded video message sent by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) today.

New Zealand compiled a hefty 210-3 thanks to Devon Conway and Will young. Conway hammered a 52 ball-92 not out while Young blasted 53 off 30 to lay the platform of big total.

Nasum said if he could be more economical in bowling, he could have thought him successful on debut match. “I gave away 30 runs which was too much. If I conceded 20/25 runs, I could have deemed myself successful,” he informed.

Apart from Nasum, however, no bowlers of Bangladesh could give away less than 10 runs per over. The stat itself suggested how successful he was amid New Zealand’s run-galore.BSS
