Noor ,Jaya to get ‘Ritwik Ghatak’ honors

Every year artists who plays special roles in movies and theaters are honored with a ‘Ritwik Ghatak Honorary Award’.

This year, a number of Indian as well as Bangladeshi actors will receive this prestigious award. From Bangladesh, Asaduzzaman Noor and Jaya Ahsan are being rewarded for their role in theater and film.

Regarding this, council member and former general secretary of Federation of Film Societies Premendu Majumder said, “A number of artists of various fields of theater and film from India and Bangladesh are being awarded the Ritwik Ghatak Honorary Award. Bangladesh’s eminent artist Noor and Jaya are on this list. Among others, there are India’s Bratya Basu and VK Joseph.”

Notably, November 4 was the legendary director and film maker Ritwik Ghatak’s birthday. Mr Majumdar added that VK Joseph has already received the award, whereas the rest of the recipients will get the honors on November 7th.

Ritwik Ghatak was a Bengali filmmaker and script writer. Along with prominent contemporary Bengali filmmakers Satyajit Ray and Mrinal Sen, his cinema is primarily remembered for its meticulous depiction of social reality.

Ghatak received many awards in his career, including National Film Award’s Rajat Kamal Award for Best Story in 1974 for his Jukti Takko Aar Gappo and Best Director’s Award from Bangladesh Cine Journalist’s Association for Titash Ekti Nadir Naam.
