Nor’wester kills 10 in Khulna, Satkhira, Barguna

News desk: At least 10 people were killed and over 100 others injured as nor’wester lashed different areas of Khulna, Bagerhat and Barguna districts on Wednesday night.KHULNA: Three people were killed and thousands of houses and educational institutions were damaged as nor’wester tore through various Upazilas of the district early Thursday.
Two of the deceased were identified as Bibhutivushan and Delwar Gazi of Dakop Upazila.
Officer-in-Charge of Dakop Thana Ahmed Kabir told banglanews: “Hundreds of houses and educational institutions were damaged in the nor’wester. Meanwhile a person was killed in lightning and another was killed by wall collapsed. Many others were injured.”
Khulna District Administrator Mejbah Uddin told banglanews, “On information I visited the affected area of Pankhali, Sutarkhali, Batiaghata and Dumuria areas.”
BAGERHAT: At least four people were killed and over hundred others injured as nor’wester hit several areas of Mongla of the district on last night.
BARGUNA: Three members of a family were killed and 20 others were injured as nor’wester hit in Chanbunia Village of Kalmegha Union Under Patharghata Upazila of the district on Wednesday night.
The deceased were identified as Ferdousi, 30, Faisal, 3 and Parvin, 30.
And at least two hundred of houses were damaged in the nor’wester.
Ibrahim, a victim of nor’wester, said that the nor’wester hit at the mid night and damaged some houses, leaving Ferdousi, Faisal and Parvin died on the spot and five others injured.”
Patharghata Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sheikh Murshidul Islam told banglanews, “I visited the spot.”
