Olympics Test Event: Ruman Shana to fly for Tokyo Wednesday

Dhaka – Bangladesh’s premier archer Mohammad Ruman Shana will fly for Tokyo early Wednesday to participate in Tokyo 2020 Olympics Test Event which is scheduled to be held at Yumenoshima Park Archery Field in Tokyo from July 12-18.

The German Coach of Bangladesh Archery team Martin Frederick who is now in Germany will also join Ruman Shana in Tokyo.

Convener of the media committee of Bangladesh Archery Federation Rafiqul Islam Tipu said “Ruman Shana will fly for Tokyo at 2 am Wednesday while Coach Martin Frederick will also fly for Tokyo from Berlin on the same day. They will attend a meeting there on Thursday.” They are expected to return home on July 19.

Earlier, Bangladeshi Archery team comprising of Mohammad Ruman Shana and Beauty Roy arrived Dhaka in the morning from Germany after participating in the Archery World Cup, Stage-4 at Maifield in Berlin last week.

The 24-year old Ruman was qualified for the Tokyo Olympics 2020 as first Bangladeshi archer on merit basis and she also won the first-ever bronze medal in the World Archery Championship last month at s-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands.

The Olympics Committee has been organising the “Tokyo 2020 Test Event-Ready Study Tokyo” as part of the preparations for the upcoming Olympic Games. Ruman Shana will take part in the event to improve their performance and skills ahead of the Tokyo Olympics.UNB
