Oman tightening rules against changing jobs

The Royal Oman Police (the body entrusted in Sultanate of Oman to issue visas) has announced that effective from 01.07.2014 an expatriates can not change jobs unless he completes two years after his departure from the previous employer. P M Jabir, community welfare secretary of the Indian Social Club Muscat has written, it is not clear whether an employee can reenter on a new visa if the previous employer issues a release letter (which was the case earlier). Nor is it clear whether an expatriate employee can change jobs without exiting the country.
However, the new rule will have a far reaching impact on the expatriate employment segment in the country, because one cannot stay there for two years after one’s departure from one employer to take job from a new employer. – Migration Forum of Asia
