Dhaka, April 14 – The Food Ministry on Monday suspended the sale of rice at Tk 10 kg as people do not maintain social distancing properly while buying it.Food Secretary Nazmanara Khanam said long queues people were seen while collecting OMS rice in Dhaka, Narayanganj and other districts. “As a result, it’s not possible to ensure social distancing which poses the risk of coronavirus transmission. That’s why the rice sale has been suspended.”
The government started selling OMS rice at Tk 10 per kg from April 5 in Dhaka and in the districts and municipalities from April 7 following the coronavirus pandemic lockdown. – UNB
