Dhaka, Sept 27 – Outgoing Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Riva Ganguly Das on Sunday called on President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban.
President press secretary Joynal Abedin briefed reporters after the meeting.
The President said trade and investment have increased between Bangladesh and India for the improved road, rail, sea and air connectivity between the two countries.
Hamid said even during the Corona time, the initiative taken to transport goods experimentally by sea from Kolkata is highly commendable.
He hoped that the two countries would expand multi-dimensional communications and take initiative to utilize every field of cooperation in the future.
The President said India is the closest neighbour and friend of Bangladesh and now this friendship has reached a new height.
The President also thanked the government and the people of India for their various health and humanitarian assistance.
The outgoing High Commissioner of India said that India always gives importance to the relations with Bangladesh.
She said a new horizon has been opened in the transportation of goods by sea and rail routes with Bangladesh during the Corona period which will play a positive role in expanding trade and investment.
The outgoing Indian High Commissioner thanked the President for his overall cooperation during her assignment here.
