Over 100 tourists stuck at St Martin for inclement weather

Dhaka – Over 100 tourists have got stuck at Saint Martin’s Island in the Bay of Bengal in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar following inclement weather.
Saint Martin Union Parishad chairman Nur Ahmed told UNB that over 200 tourists went to the island on Thursday and some 100 of them returned to Teknaf on Thursday night.

However, the rest remained stranded in the island as the plying of ship was suspended following bad weather.
The local administration banned the vessel plying as deep convection is taking place over the North Bay.
The maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been asked to hoist local cautionary signal no three following the deep convection.
Under its influence, squally weather may affect North Bay, adjoining coastal area of Bangladesh and the maritime ports, said Met office.
All fishing boats and trawlers over the North Bay have been advised to come close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.
