The Superintendent of Pabna Police Sheikh Rafikul Islam tested positive for the coronavirus on Friday.Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Gautam Kumar said the test report of Sheikh Rafikul Islam came in the afternoon confirming his infection.
He has been taking treatment from home, ASP said.
So far 179 people were covid-19 positive in the district and five dies, said Civil Surgeon Mehedi Iqbal.
Meanwhile, health authorities confirmed the detection of record 3471 new patients in the last 24 hours, raising the total cases to 81,523.
Since March, COVID-19 has claimed lives of 1095 people in Bangladesh so far including forty-six people in last 24 hours until Friday, reportsa UNB from Pabna.
