Pacer Al Amin gets clearance to bowl

Dhaka – Bangladesh Cricket Team pace bowler Al Amin Hossain has been cleared to resume bowling as the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Bowling Action Review Committee (BARC) found his action sufficiently rectified.BCB BARC on Thursday cleared Al Amin, who was reported for suspected bowling action during the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20 in November-December 2017.A subsequent analysis of the bowler’s action confirmed that the extension of his elbow was beyond the ICC’s acceptable limit of 15 degrees in certain deliveries and Al Amin was banned to bowl in domestic matches until he made necessary corrections. The 28-year old pacer Al Amin underwent a correctional programme under a local coach Mohammad Salahuddin before the retesting of BARC on January 7 and finally he got clearance to continue his bowling.”The technical assessment found no extension outside what is allowed. He [Al Amin Hossain] is now free to bowl in matches and competitions,” said BCB BARC chairman Mohammed Jalal Yunus adding that the report of the retest has shown significant improvement.”We have noticed a considerable change from the time he was reported to his bowling in the retest. The elbow extension has come down from almost 20 to 21 degrees in some deliveries to a perfectly acceptable 11 to 12 degrees,” said BCB Management Information System (MIS) manager Nasir Ahmed.
This is the second time Al Amin got relief of suspected bowling action after November 2014. He was first reported during Bangladesh tour to West Indies in August 2014 and cleared by the ICC after a test at the ICC-accredited centre in Chennai in November 2014.UNB news agency
