Pahela Baishakh: US, Australian envoys greet Bangladeshis

US Ambassador to Bangladesh Earl Miller and Australian High Commissioner in Dhaka Jeremy Bruer on Tuesday greeted Bangladeshis on the occasion of Pahela Baishakh, the first day of Bangla New Year.

“As we join forces to fight COVID-19, on behalf of the entire US Embassy community, including our American Spaces, I wish Bangladeshis everywhere a safe & healthy Pahela Baishakh,” said US Ambassador to Bangladesh Earl Miller.

“A huge thanks to members of the Embassy community, including our American Spaces and EdUSA colleagues, and our dear exchange program alumni for contributing photos to this special New Year’s mosaic! May you and your families enjoy a healthy and hope-filled Pahela Baishakh!,” reads a message shared by the US Embassy.

“On the day when we celebrate Bengali New Year, I wish Bangladesh and its people Shubho Nobobarsha!,” Australian high commissioner said in a message.

In these challenging times more than ever, the High Commissioner said, they must celebrate events that bring them together as people and nations, and work towards sustainable development and the welfare of all.
