Painting show ‘Baishakh’ of Samina Nafies at Alliance Francaise Tuesday

Alliance Française de Dhaka requests the pleasure of your company on the occasion of the inaugural ceremony of the solo painting exhibition titled Boisakh and Reinterpretation of Indigenous Art by artist Samina Nafis in Galerie Zoom on Tuesday, 12 April, 2016 at 6.00 pm. Samina Nafies was born in 1961. A First Class First in Master of Fine Arts in painting from the University of Chittagong, Nafis concentrated on rulal pottery and has developed unique compositions thet were featured in exhibitions both national and international. She works in oil and mixed media collage experimenting with messy motifs inspired by her childhood memories. She mostly follows the Folk artists and their creations. She has taken part in numerous exhibitions both in home and abroad and illustrated several books for under privileged children and other story books. She has written two books in Bangla, ‘Surrealism in Painting’ ‘Drawing and Reading of Pictures’.
The exhibition will be open to all until 25 April 2016 at  Galerie Zoom, Alliance Française de Dhaka. Visiting Hours:  Monday to Thursday from 3:00pm to 9:00pm, Friday and Saturday (9:00am to12:00noon and 5:00pm to 8:00pm). Sunday- Closed, press release.
