Panchagarh boy attacked in home, loses a hand finger

Panchagarh, July 25 (UNB) – A seven-year-old boy was injured in an attack by an unidentified miscreant at his home in the Sadar upazila’s Khuniapara on Wednesday night.

The victim was identified as Afridi, 7, son of Jahangir Alam.

Quoting family sources, police said a miscreant entered the children’s room around 10:30pm while their mother Ratna was in the adjacent room as Afridi and his sibling slept.

Ratna rushed to the room hearing screams and found Afridi bleeding. The child said a man hit him with a sharp weapon and he lost his finger trying to protect himself. The attacker fled the scene.

Later, the child was taken to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.

The motive for the attack is unclear.

Abu Akkas Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said they are investigating the incident.
