Pizza Hut pledges antibiotic-free chicken in US by 2022

Thanks to competition, Pizza Hut announced in June its commitment to serve chicken raised without antibiotics important to human medicines in the US by 2022. The announcement includes all chicken and chicken wings. Previously, the brand had said it planned to stop using chickens raised with antibiotics important to human health in its pizza toppings.
This ‘demonstrates our commitment to serve food that not only tastes great but that customers can feel good about eating’, said Marianne Radley, chief brand officer, Pizza Hut.
‘Our customers are our business, and we will continue to push ourselves to ensure that we are delivering the quality food and quality experience our customers expect and deserve,’ she added.
Many major chains have started to move away from meat especially chicken raised with antibiotics. In 2016, Papa John’s and Papa Murphy’s announced they had transitioned to poultry raised without antibiotics in their pizzas. Last year, KFC said its poultry suppliers had been given until the end of 2018 to stop raising chickens using antibiotics important to human medicine.
