PM to bear all treatment costs of filmmaker Amjad Hossain abroad

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will bear all medical treatment costs of critically ill eminent film director Amjad Hossain including air ambulance expenses . He is likely to be taken to Thailand today for better treatment.“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will bear all medical treatment costs of ‘Ekushey Padak’-winning film director Amjad Hossain in Thai capital of Bangkok including air ambulance expenses,” PM’s Deputy Press Secretary Ashraful Alam Khokan told BSS yesterday.
Besides, he said, the prime minister has allocated Taka 20 lakh for Amjad Hossain’s treatment.
When contacted, Amjad Hossain’s son Sohel Arman told BSS that Prime Minister’s Protocol Officer Khurshid-ul-Alam has conveyed the prime minister’s decision to bear all medical treatment costs of Amjad Hossain abroad.
Arman said their family has taken all preparations to send Amjad Hossain to Bangkok tomorrow by an air ambulance for his better treatment there.
“Our father will undergo medical treatment at Bumrungrad Hospital in Bangkok,” he added.
Amjad Hossain, who suffered a stroke at his residence in the capital on November 18, is now undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit of the private Impulse Hospital at Tejgaon here.
Earlier, the prime minister took the responsibility for the treatment of Amjad Hossain.
She invited his two sons – Sajjad Hossain Dodul and Sohel Arman – at the Prime Minister’s Office on November 20 to know about the latest physical condition of the film director.
“After knowing the health condition of our father, the honourable prime minister has taken full responsibility for his medical treatment at home or abroad,” Arman told reporters after the meeting.
