Polluters get fined around Dhaka city

The Department of Environment (DoE) today fined seven industries for violation of environmental guidelines and polluting environment with untreated industrial wastes in Savar, Keraniganj, Manikganj and Gazipur, said a press release.

According to the release, a total of Taka 33 lac has been fined for the violation of environmental guidelines against the establishments who discharged industrial effluent directly to rivers, set up brick fields, and expanded poultry firms and disposed off excreta to nature in an unhygienic manner.

The establishments that were fined included: Gaze Fashions Limited, Uttar Khan, Protein House Limited, Gazipur, Diamond Egg Limited, Gazipur, AMB Bricks, Manikganj, Sarc and Company, Manikganj, Noor Washing Plant, Keraniganj, and Heera Washing Plant, Savar.

The DoE also asked authorities concerned to set up effluent treatment plant (ETP) immediately to treat waste waters, relocate plants to better places and run those strictly under environment guidelines.
