Premier cricket: Mohammedan beat Prime Bank

Dhaka – Mohammedan Sporting Club captain Raqibul Hasan hit a century as they beat Prime Bank Cricket Club by 133 runs by DL Method in Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League on Monday.

Mohammedan lost the toss and batted first in Savar.They lost the first wicket in the first over when Irfan Sukkur fell for a golden duck. Liton Das and Avishek Mitra also fell quickly in spite of a good start. They scored 36 and 20 respectively.

Mohammad Ashraful and Nadif Chowdhury also followed them with their dismal show in the middle as they posted four and 11 only.

When they were struggling at 88 for five wickets, Raqibul and their Indian recruit Rajat Bhatia added 146 runs, helping Mohammedan to post 296 for nine wickets.

Rajat hit 66 while Raqibul struck 102 off 104 balls. Along with them, Sohag Gazi also starred with the bat as he posted 33 off 14.

For Prime Bank, Al Amin Hossain, Monir Hossain, Nayeem Hasan and Abdur Razzak took two wickets each.

While replying, Prime Bank scored 150 for nine wickets in 39.1 overs before rain forced the game to be stopped.

Anamul Haque, Abhimanyu Easwaran and Nahidul Islam scored 26, 22 and 28 respectively for Prime Bank.

Sohag scalped four wickets conceding 21 runs in seven overs. Mohammad Ashraful did surprisingly well with the ball, bagging three wickets for 37 runs in 10 overs.Raqibul was adjudged the man of the match.

It was Mohammedan’s fifth win at the end of 10 rounds of the league. They are now at number five at the points table. On the other hand, Prime Bank suffered the third loss in the league, and are now at number three at the points table.UNB
