Premier Cricket: Mohammedan concede defeat to Shinepukur

Dhaka — Mohammedan Sporting Club lost their first game of Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League to Shinepukur Cricket Club by five wickets at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah on Monday, before the league is halted by Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) later on the day to tackle coronavirus.

BCB said in a press release sent on Monday evening that the league’s rescheduling plan will be revealed later by the board. Mohammedan won the toss and opted to bat first and posted 257 runs for eight wickets in 50 overs. Mahmudul Hasan was the highest runs getter scoring 58 while Abdul Mazid and Irfan Sukkur posted 42 and 46 respectively.

Mohor Sheikh and Tanvir Islam bagged two wickets while Robiul Haque and Hasan Morad took one wicket each. In reply, Shinepukur chased down the target in 49.3 overs scoring 258 for five. They won the game by five wickets riding on the fifties of Tanzid Hasan (59), Robiul Islam (54) and Towhid Rhridoy (50).

 

Abu Jayed, Abu Hider, Abdur Razzak and Mahmudul Hasan took one wicket each for Mohammedan.

In the other two matches of the day, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club beat Khelaghar Samaj Kalyan Samity by 55 runs at BKSP and Prime Bank Cricket Club beat Gazi Group Cricketers by 9 runs at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
