Preparations for Durga Puja in Mymensingh

All preparations are going to be completed to celebrate the Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Hindu community, in the district.
The artisans are seen busy with finishing touch of the images of Goddess Durga in most of the Puja mandaps in the district town and upazilas. The five-day festival of the largest minority community will begin from October 10 with due respect and religious fervour and conclude on
October 14 through the immersion of idols. District administration and Puja Udjapan committee sources said a total of 673 mandaps has been set up in the district this year. Of the total, some 50 mandaps were set up in Sadar Pourasabha, 102 in Sadar upazila, 105 in Muktagachha, 57 in Fulbaria, 61 in Trisal, 58 in Bhaluka, 13 in Gaffargaon, 19 in Nandail, 49 in Iswarganj, 47 in Gouripur, 37 in Phulpur, 50 in Haluaghat and 30 in Dhobaura upazila. Deputy Commissioner Mostakim Billah Faruquee said district administration has taken necessary security measures for maintaining law and order during the Puja. Police and Ansar will be deployed in all the Puja mandaps.The DC said district administration has allocated 332 tonnes of rice for the Puja mandaps to celebrate the Durga Puja with a festive mood.
