Is there anything that Priyanka Chopra – the saviour of America (Quantico), the destroyer of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson (Baywatch) and Bollywood’s talent extraordinaire – can’t do? The woman slays at everything, almost everything. And now, she has owned Britney Spears’ Toxic too.
Jodie Foster and our very own PeeCee came together for a hilarious reinterpretation of the Britney Spears’ hit. Jodie hoped that they make Britney proud with their video. They did much better.
For a new episode of ‘Lyrical Improv with Lynn Hirschberg,’ via W Magazine, Priyanka and Jodie performed Toxic in two very different ways. While Jodie was more reading than singing, Priyanka was doing her Kaa reinterpretation of the song. By Kaa, we mean the same seductive, hypnotic quality she brought to the giant snake in The Jungle Book, well, she did it again.
So she sings lyrics like, “I’m addicted to you / Don’t you know that you’re toxic” while Jodie, in all seriousness, seems to be telling us, “You are dangerous / I am loving it.” When we are done being hypnotised, it is kind of hilarious, laugh out loud hilarious.
Priyanka shared the video on Instagram and wrote, “Reinventing #Toxic the #FosterChopra way! So much fun! #JodieFoster�I hope we make @britneyspears proud! #lyricalimprov @wmag.”
Britney came out with the song in 2003 and ever since then, Toxic has been watched more than 210,281,000 times on YouTube. The Princess of Pop will release her ninth studio album, Glory, on August 26. Till then, we will just be watching Priyanka/Jodie’s version of Toxic.
