Dhaka – Prizes of the Walton International Rating Chess Tournament 2019 were handed over at a function at the Chess Federation here on Wednesday.
FM Iqbal Bin Anwar (Dawn), Executive Director and Head of Games and Sports of the meet’s sponsor Walton Group, distributed prizes among winners as chief guest.
KM Shahidullah, Vice-President of Bangladesh Chess Federation, presided over the ceremony. WCM Mahmuda Hoque Chowdhury Moly, Managing Director of Elegant International Chess Academy, was present the as special guests while International Arbiter Haroon Or Rashid addressed the function.
Unbeaten champion of the Walton Int’l Rating Chess IM Mohammad Minhaz Uddin of Bangladesh Navy received a cash prize of Tk 40,000. Runner-up CM Md Sharif Hossain of Bangladesh Navy got a prize money of Tk 25,000, CM Subrota Biswas received Tk 15,000 and FM Sheikh Nasir Ahmed of Bangladesh Navy got Tk 10,000 along with Walton gifts.
Other 20 players also received cash prizes and Walton gifts.UNB
