Prof. M. Kabir wins IDB Prize on Islamic economics, banking

Dr. M. Kabir Hassan, professor of the Department of Economics and Finance at the University of New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, has been honored with the prestigious Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Prize for his outstanding merit in the fields of Islamic economics, banking and finance. Dr. Hassan, also Editor, Journal of Islamic Economics, Banking and Finance published by Islami Bank Training and Reserach Academy IBTRA), was presented the award at the 41st IDB Board of Governors Annual Meeting, held from recently in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Dr. Hassan has presented more than 300 research papers at professional conferences around the globe. He received his BA in Economics and Mathematics from Gustavus Adolphus College, Minnesota, USA, in 1985 and M.A. in Economics in 1987 and Ph.D. in Finance in 1990 from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, USA respectively. Dr. Hassan stood first in combined merit list in the Secondary Certificate (SSC) Examination in Comilla Board from Comilla Zilla School in 1978, and stood first again in the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) in Comilla Board. – Press release
