Road, Transport and Bridges Minister and Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader on Monday said no one will be able to show the way to safety to those who remain ignorant of the Coronavirus epidemic.
He made the remark while briefing the media at his official residence.The Minister urged the public to test for the infection without hiding it and said “The main task will be to save yourself,” before adding, almost as an afterthought: “As well as family and society.”
Obaidul Quader expressed deep grief and sorrow at the demise of former Health Minister Mohammad Nasim, State Minister for Religious Affairs Sheikh Md Abdullah, former mayor of Sylhet City Corporation Mayor Badruddin Ahmed Kamran and other leaders, academics and businessmen due to COVID-19.
He claimed the government is working day and night despite various limitations to get rid of this epidemic.The minister noted that awareness is the key to good living while unity and concerted efforts are necessary to strengthen disease prevention. “Let us support each other alongside the relentless efforts of the government.”
Obaidul Quader praised Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as a ‘courageous leader’ and called on everyone to have confidence in her.
