RAB busts fake recruiters for fraud online channel

Dhaka, Mar 23 : Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested 10 people on charges of cheating members of the public in the guise of appointing district and upazila correspondents for an apparently online channel named ” Bangabandhu Satellite TV (BSTV News24)”.According to RAB, the arrestees appropriated Tk 15-25,000 from each person conned into appointments as district or upazila correspondent, when no such appointment existed.
The arrested people were identified as Shaheen Khan, Nur Hossain alias Nurul Islam Nahid, Riyad Mahmud, Rimon Parvez, Zainul Abedin, Akbar Hossain, Rajib Hossain, Raihan Parvez, Imrul Kayes alias Fayez and Ayub Khan.
Briefing reporters at the Rab-4 battalion headquarters, its Commanding Officer DIG Mozammel Haque on Monday said the ten were arrested in the early hours of Monday on charges of cheating from the capital’s Hatirjheel and Motijheel areas.
He said that based on intelligence report, a special team of the battalion conducted the raid and arrested the ten people, seizing cameras, computers, visiting cards and banners from their possession.
The Rab-4 Commanding officer said that the syndicate was misappropriating money in the name of appointing district and upazila correspondents for the online TV channel “Bangabandhu Satellite TV (BSTV News24)”, reports UNB.
