Dhaka – Eminent jurist Barrister Rafique-ul-Huq has been awarded ‘Khan Bahadur Ahsanullah Gold Medal 2017’ for his extraordinary contribution to the nation.Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain handed over the gold medal to the lawyer at Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) auditorium in the city’s Tejgaon area on Saturday.
The award includes a crest and a check of Tk two lakh.The award giving ceremony was presided over by National Professor Dr Anisuzzaman while General Secretary of Ahsania Mission Dr SM Khalilur Rahman read out the brief history of the life of Rafique-ul-Huq.
Among others, Former Secretary and Former Chairman of National Board of Revenue (NBR) Dr Muhammad Abdul Majid, senior advocate of the Supreme Court AF Hasan Arif and Pro Vice-chancellor of AUST Prof Kazi Shariful Alam also spoke in the occasion.
The award was introduced in 1986 after the name of Khan Bahadur Ahsanullah, eminent educationist and founder of Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM). With the latest award, a total of 25 eminent persons have been awarded for their significant contributions at the national level.UNB
